I'm glad to be back in class, although I was quite busy yesterday! Hopefully (and I haven't heard any negative reports yet) you were good for the guest teacher yesterday.
In ELA today:
- We will take time to begin thinking about our THESIS statement. This statement reflects what your position is on an environmental issue, and focuses your work.
- A thesis statement is more than "I think hydro fracking is wrong." To...what? So...what? Like...what? Why?
- Using this sort of thinking develops your thesis, and in turn develops your writing. That is why we need to take the time to THINK about our writing.
- Head on over to Socrative and take the quiz for Chapter 7. Please please please, use your book if you need to. And, honestly, this is the pace that we are sticking with: read a chapter, take the quiz. Reading the chapter is SUPER important. It's your job to somehow, some way, get that reading done.
- Speaking of reading, the next chapter (Chapter 8 - Hunger Is Frightful's Teacher) is up next!
