Day 38: Monday, October 31st, 2016 - HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Good morning kiddos!  Welcome Back to Monday!  It's Halloween today!

We will have a modified schedule today that includes an assembly this morning and your performances this afternoon.  In between all of that gobbledygook, we will still have classes and Special, which for you guys is FCS today, because it's a C Day.

We still have to take care of our Morning Responsibilities however.

• Sign up for lunch so our LUNCH SLIP RUNNER HARLEY can take the slip down to the office.
• Make sure you have your materials for classes.
• Cram your breakfast down your throat and throw your garbage out.
• Sit and get organized for the day.

Today is a B-Day.  In your world, that means that you have MUSIC for your Special. Please make sure that you have a folder with you and, as always, show your teachers the utmost respect.

• Sign up for lunch at the front by the phone.  Get this done so our Lunch Slip Runner ADRIANNA can take it to the office.
• Please make sure that you have all of your materials (pencils, notebooks, folders, independent reading book, etc.).
• Quickly eat your breakfast and then take care of your garbage.
• Sit at your desk and work on the Morning Work.

Today in Social Studies, we will continue to work on discovering the Geography of the Eastern Hemisphere.  Yesterday, we inserted a map of a good chunk of the Eastern Hemisphere that we will be looking at quite a bit this year in class, beginning with Prehistory and Early Humans to Ancient Rome.

Day 36: Thursday, October 27th, 2016 - It's Thuuuuurrrrsdayyyyyy!

Good morning, kids!  How is everybody doing on this fine Thursday morning?  Hopefully pretty well!  Are you ready for another day of learning?

Today is an A Day, so you get to go to PE today for Special.  Please make sure that you bring your sneakers to the Gymnasium today.

• Remember to sign up for lunch up front.  It looks like BLAINE is our Lunch Slip Runner for today, so let's take of it so he can do his job.
• Eat your breakfast and clean up your mess.
• Make sure you have all of your morning materials.
• Sit quietly and organize your materials.
• If last night's work is not done, please work on that.

Today we have just a scattered few more presenters to go for the Brochure project, and then I'd like to wrap up Geography with a final Teacher/Student Input activity that will be for tonight's homework.

So, today is a D Day, and that means that you have Physical Education.  Is it true that you guys don't have lockers this year for PE?

Everyday reminders:

• Sign up for lunch.  It looks like WYATT is our Lunch Slip Runner today, so indicate what you are going to have so he can take care of that.
• Get all of your materials for your Morning Classes, including notebooks, folders, pencils and your independent reading book.
• Cram your breakfast down your throat and get rid of your garbage and tray.
• Work on the Morning Work.  You need to find the 10 errors in the paragraph and fix them.

We'll be continuing to work on our Brochure Project on The 5 Themes of Geography today in class.  At this point:

1. You should be well on your way to completing the rough drafts of your paragraphs.  I would like to read and make corrections on the paragraphs before you do your Final Copies.
• Spelling is important.
• Proper Grammar is important.
• Sentence Structure is important.
2. You may have started your drawings for each theme.
3. You may also have started working on your mini-map for the front cover of the brochure.

Day 24: October 11th, 2016 - Welcome Back!

Good morning, kiddos!  How was your long weekend?  Did you get to play or did you have to do chores?  I slept in a bunch!

Today in Social Studies, we're going to finish up our graphic organizers on the 5 Themes of Geography with HUMAN-ENVIRONMENT INTERACTION. Later this week, we'll begin a project that involves using these 5 Themes.

We will be continuing along with the 5 Themes of Social Studies today in class.  Yesterday while I was away, you should have finished up the information for REGION pertaining to the Southeastern U.S.

We still have 2 more Themes to work through, but they're kind of easy.  The one that we will deal with today is called MOVEMENT.  Yes, movement means to travel around in one way or another, and yes, everyone can talk about cars, bikes, planes and trains.  But MOVEMENT is more than just this.  We'll talk more about this later.

In Social Studies today, we'll be continuing with our exploration of the 5 Themes of Geography. Previously, we looked into LOCATION and PLACE in class, and we will move onto understanding what the theme of REGION means.
