The Upcoming Week in ELA

We will be continuing our work with our final novel of the year, Frightful's Mountain.

  • On Friday, May 1st, the students were given a chance to learn more about the author of this book, Jean Craighead George.  Using Cornell Notes (see example below), the students visited *this web page* to learn details and facts about her.

  •  An example of the Cornell Notes that students are beginning to use.

  • On Monday, May 4th, we will revisit a web diagram (see example below) that the students completed in response to the following quote from Jean Craighead George:
"In nature, nothing exists alone."
  • The Frightful's Mountain Web Diagram.

  • We will also be reading the Forward to Frightful's Mountain.  It was written by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., and details how our author influenced his life.
  • We will also dive into the first chapter - Frightful Takes Off
  • On Tuesday, May 5th, we will moving on to Chapter Two - Frightful Goes To Falcon School.

  • After we listen to Chapter Two, we will begin discussing specific ways in which human beings affect nature.
